Magix Audiolab? Anything similar for SUSE?

Hello.
I'm so new I haven't even got my PC yet, picking it up this weekend. Current machine using XP, this is all new to me.

I will be using SUSE 10.2 on my home PC.
In the good old XP days I used the above MAGIX programme to record audio from external sources & also from streamers such as the BEEB.
I could then edit & either store as MP3 or cut a CD......all from the same programme.

Magix tell me it won't work on Linux.......does anyone know of anything similar?

doesn't sound particuarly complex what you mention. not aware of a single tool to do this, but i personallly record bbc radio via mplayer just fine.

I would think Audacity would work fine for what you've described ... Ardour is coming along nicely, I hear ... Tools for various audio functions are rapidly catching up with those available for Windows.

I dual boot Windows and Kubuntu. I use Magix Audio Cleaning Lab. There doesn't seen to be one programme, but you can use a few. Look at something like http://free.vlsm.org/v17/au/csiro/da...Recording.html

For "cleaning" vinyl rips, check out Gnome Wave Cleaner (gwc)

I should explain that The version of SUSE was the one on free DVD with Linux magazine.......sadly disc was faulty & has managed to ERASE all my existing files including XP before crashing halfway through!
Other would be starters beware!
(I should stress that a very helpful man named Mike Saunders posted me a new disc post haste, but this explains why my PC is currently at the local computer shop).

I don't have an XP disc so I'm afraid windows programmes are OUT!
