I have down loaded mandriva twice and bought the disc from linux forum magazine BUT none of the them work,I have pressed ctrl\alt\del which gets to the next screen with the loading bar and that stops my machine is pentium 4, and I have had xubuntu, kubuntu, xandros, knoppix and they all work why not mandriva ???????????
It will help a lot if you break up the run-on sentences.
When you say that you "pressed ctrl-alt-del", where was this in the process? Are these "live CDs"?---If so, can you boot up in live mode?
Are the errors coming during initial bootup or during install?
You are booting from the CD and it appears to stop before getting to anything useful. It is possible that this is because loading from Live CD takes awhile? (Several minutes)
When it appears to stop, are there any lights flashing?--eg on the CD drive.
Before it appears to stop, what do you see on the screen?
What do you mean by "the next screen" when you hit ctrl-alt-del?
hi
What happens is it stops with 2 lines of code.
then after ctrl\alt\del you get a blue screen and a long white bar filling up with blue loading the rest of program
When you first boot the CD, are you given any options (eg for video resolution)
What code do you see when it starts booting?
When it appears to stop, do you see any lights flashing--eg on the CD drive?
What if you simply wait 5 minutes?
While it appears to be doing nothing, try hitting the escape key.
The ctrl-alt-del action simply sounds like it is re-booting or shutting down.
If nothing works, go back and confirm that you can boot the other CDs.
Finally, what is your hardware? Hard disk, RAM, etc.
