Macpup 5.2.8 doesnt reckognize my usb

i recently installed mac pup (which is great) but however i want to access my USB/mp3 player. But i have looked in every folder imaginable, and still cant find it. My old SliTaz OS was able to recognize it. But why cant mac pup?

There is a usb icon on the ibar that launches pmount. When you click on it does it list your mp3 player. I know it "see's" my ipod nano.

http://sushi-huh.sourceforge.net/
https://launchpad.net/keryx

Sushi huh/kerytx is a program that scans your (offline) Linux Os, to see what kind of updates and packages your missing. Then with a USB you bring that information to a different (online) Os and it then downloads all those packages and dependencies for you. Then you just bring the USB back to the offline Linux Os to install them. Read the site for further details.

Thanks!!

I think I will post this question in a new thread and just classify this one as solved. Thanks for all your help runtt21

It looks like you need python for those. You need to install the devx.sfs for that. But it's really a wast. I doubt they support the .pet format that puppy and macpup use. I am the guy that builds and updates macpup. I post the updates on our forum .You don't need those apps for macpup.

thanks for the help, I was just looking for a faster way to install packages on my offline macpup Os without having to install all the dependencies seperatly. Do you know how I could do that?

runtt21 02-26-2012 08:37 AM

In macpup' /root folder there is a doc called "About Macpup 528" In there are the addresses for the macpup forum(hardkap) and the main puppy forum(murga). You can get .pets for just about everything there. Lucid 528 is macpup's base. Anything that will run in it will run in macpup. You can download the .pet on another computer save them on a usb and install them later in macpup. You could even download and save stuff from the mian puppy repos like that.

and do these come with all the dependencies, because whenever i try and install anything with a .tar.gz extension im always missing dependencies and its really annoying.

runtt21 02-26-2012 11:17 AM

The .pets do . Tar.gz stuff usually needs to be compiled to work.
