Almost impossible for us to say, since almost anything could be causing it. Sorry, but you haven't given sufficient information to do anything.
What is causing the problem? Do you have `top`? Try `top` to see what processes are using up the cycles. But, then, it could be other issues. Do you have a critical partition that has become full? A full mail partition could cause mail to go nuts trying to function. Oracle. Are you running an Oracle database? Or just the Oracle Linux release? Are you getting hammered with network traffic? Without being there, there are just a zillion questions and no answers. Hardware failing? /var/log/messages show anything out of line?
