MacBook 5.2's issue with Wireless connection

Hello everyone,

This is my first time posting on this forum but I figured this would be a good way of getting support here in regards to a Mac that has Ubuntu installed.

At this point, I am using 13.04 Ubuntu on the MacBook and I have pretty much everything going, but the issue is that although I can get the ethernet working and I have everything updated, I can't get the wifi to work. Checking the wifi status, I can only see ethernet stuff, just not wifi, even though I put in correct details like BSSID and Mac Address.

Am I missing something or do I need to install a driver?

Can you post the output of 'ifconfig -a' as root and 'iwlist scan' also as root.

What type of encryption is the router using? What command are you using to connect to it and what specific error is given?

The result from ifconfig -a

          collisions:0 txqueuelen:0
          RX bytes:64942 (64.9 KB) TX bytes:64942 (64.9 KB)
The result of iwlist scanning
Code:
lo Interface doesn't support scanning.

eth0 Interface doesn't support scanning.
My router's using WPA2 Personal (And I know my router's MAC address) and I'm not using terminal to try to connect. I've been using edit connections to use Ethernet cable, but no luck with the wifi.

Okay, it looks like your computer does not recognize your wireless card at all. Try posting the output of 'lspci -v' as root. This way we can find out what your wireless card is and try to find a driver for it. And it's fine that you are not using the command line, I must have misread your first post.

The BCM 43XX series wireless cards are especially tricky to get working with Linux. I used to have a 4312 which I managed to get working after much turmoil.

Check this link out for more information. According to the chart the 4322 is not supported.

http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Drivers/b43

But fear not! This might work for you.

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.p...3#post11259353

Hope some of this helps. When I got my 4312 working, I used the method in the second link. That is with b43-fwcutter and ndiswrapper.

This didn't work out as I had hoped.

@ixion2600
I'll look into it now, thanks.
