MAC Cloning

Hello All,

When I try to change my mac address to 01:02:03:04:05:06 in My RHEL4
(AS) box I use the command,

#ifconfig eth0 down
#ifconfig eth0 192.168.0.3 hw ether 01:02:03:04:05:06 up

It comes up with an error that device is busy and I am not able to
change the MAC.

I edited /etc/sysconfig/network-script/ifcfg-eth0 as
BOOTPROTO=none
HWADDR=01:02:03:04:05:06

As well as added "ifconfig eth0 hw ether 01:02:03:04:05:06"
to /etc/rc.d/rc.local file but no use I am not able to change
my MAC address.

Any Solution????

Regards,
Ohovus
P.S. arp -s host 01:02:03:04:05:06 pub is not working too.

Try this...

service network stop

nameif eth0 01:02:03:04:05:06

or this

ifconfig eth0 hw ether 01:02:03:04:05:06

service network restart
