Trying to install Bodhi on mac mini 10.6. I have Bodhi loded onto a usb drive. When I boot up the mac with the option key held down, I only get the choice of the hard drive (no recognition of the usb). Anyone know how to get recognition to boot from usb?

Since you are unable to boot your usb on your mac and your mac doesn't recognize the usb it seems to be a problem with the mac. Have you ever been able to boot 'anything' from a usb? Have you used any external drives successfully connected by usb?. Perhaps the info at the site below will:
