LVM situation, adding new drive, removing old one

Server (LVM):
500GB
320GB

I want to install a new 500GB and remove the 320GB, of course moving the data on the 320GB to the new 500GB.

I have an external 1TB in enclosure that I can plug in to move the data over, but how do I move only the data on the 320GB to it?? I found this http://tldp.org/HOWTO/LVM-HOWTO/removeadisk.html But that is only to move the data to a new replacement disk, but my external is only temporary to move the data from the 320GB until I remove it+install 500GB, then move the data back.

Thanks for any help

edit: Not enough space on the 500GB already on server to move everything from 320GB to it, just in case that seemed the obvious thing to do

You will have to add the external drive to the volume, as stated in the LVM how to.
Move the data from the old disk to the new one. Remove the old disk.
Install your new drive, and then repeat the process but removing the external drive this time.
Add the new drive to volume, move data from external disk to new internal disk and remove external disk from volume.

Haven't you got another SATA port on your motherboard so you can skip the external drive part ?

pvscan tells you which disks are part of the volume, and you should be able to tell which disk is the 320GB.
