LVM not showing contents USB drives after reboot

Hi,
I have installed xubuntu on a LVM system. Added an external USB drive. Files were on the external USB drive and could be found.
I had to reboot my system and now the data on the external USB drive can not be found. (Data is present on the USB drive!)

Do I have to mount or change the fstab file? Or something different?

Help is appreciated. gGuzz.

new install but still no usb drive

I have made a new install (not using LVM), ubuntu server with xfce desktop.

Attached usb drive (fat). But these are not recognized.
fdisk -l shows
Code:

Disk /dev/sda: 160.0 GB, 160041885696 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 19457 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
Disk identifier: 0x0005e7d4

Device Boot      Start        End      Blocks  Id  System
/dev/sda1  *          1      18703  150231816  83  Linux
/dev/sda2          18704      19457    6056505    5  Extended
/dev/sda5          18704      19457    6056473+  82  Linux swap / Solaris

Attached the usb drive to a windows system, data on drive can be manipulated. Removed drives properly and attached to the ubuntu system. But again not recognized.

What to do?
Thanks, gGuzz

USB ports are ok

USB ports have been checked with another usb drive. No problem, drive is recognised and can be used.
