lvg mounted on /home want to utilize the space

Hi, I have Installed 32 bit RHEL 6 on Virtualbox 4.2.16. I have created 3 PV & 4 LV.

Hard-disk is 10gb , 40gb & 40gb. And 4 LV as follws.
1)3.5 gb for mounted at root
2)3.8 gb for swap-space
3) 31 gb for /home
4) 2 gb for /temp

I want to Install Oracle 11g r2 on RHEL 6 , I have created a directory on root named /base. I have copied the setup there , but while instllation of ORacle its giving the message : insufficient disk space on this volume for the selected Oracle home

Its showing my root directory full.
but I would like to utilize space from /home directory . Which is 28 GB FREE. Kindly suggest how to utilize it.

If you are running the installation from /base, it will likely trying to install under the root filesystem. Was there no option to specify where Oracle will be installed? Any other information in the installation log?

Hard-disk is 10gb , 40gb & 40gb. And 4 LV as follws. --> total equals 90 Gb
1)3.5 gb for mounted at root
2)3.8 gb for swap-space
3) 31 gb for /home
4) 2 gb for /temp
assigned total --> +/- 40 Gb

It seems that there is still 50 Gb space that is not assigned, why not use that?

If resizing is needed, you might want to have a look at this link: LVM Resizing Guide

RHEL should have system-config-lvm; a GUI to allow you to adjust the lvs as you want.
Hopefully all in one vg to make it easier.
