Low sound off a ESS Maestro 3 PCI Audio soundcard

Hi Guys:

I am a new member and I need some assistance with my ESS Maestro 3 PCI soundcard installed within my notebook. My CD output sound is good however if I logon to FM radio stations the sound output is very low. My question is whether this is inherently so or is there something I can do to improve on the volume. Might I add that the volume controls are currently all up to the max.

Have you enabled all outputs using alsamixer or a similar app?

The only mixer I have adjusted is the ESS Maestro mixer that came with the notebook. Are you suggesting that I download another mixer?

Not really suggesting it. What distro are you using, what sound engine (oss, alsa, etc) and what window manager?

I am not sure. I am most likely using the default sound engin associated with windows xp and by extension windows media player. To answer your question I have not loaded any additional mixers or software to improve the sound problem I am experiencing.
