Low rez and only 256 colours allowed on RH 8.0.......

Hola!

Well, i hate to make my introduction with a question, not an answer, but here goes....

I have installed RH 8.0. Its all good in command line mode, all is sweet. But when I go into Gnome it will not allow me to have a resolution of more than 800 X 600, and 256 colours!

This is annoying because I need to test web sites in higher rez and colours....

I am running a Gloria Synergy graphics card (Yes, the old one), and a Phillips 107S monitor. I have changed all of this over in the Display Settings, but still I cannot cut the proverbial mustard resolution wise.

IS there the possibility I need new drivers or something?

Thanking all of you whos linux kung fu is strong in advance.....

/etc/X11/XF86Config

You should take a look at /etc/X11/XF86Config to see if your screen is set up correctly.

It's probably using the config file /etc/X11/XF86Config-4

I just did a Linux Google search (see my sig) for your video card, so see if you need drivers for it.
