lots of problems installing Gnome 2.4.1
Hey there
im trying to install GConf because apparently i need it to install a bunch of other things, but when i do it says i need another one, this new thing i have to install needs something else and it goes on and on im stuck trying to install libIDL, when i do ./configure it gives me the following message: checking for flex... no checking for lex... no ./configure: line 3804: flex: command not found checking for flex... no checking for lex... no checking for yywrap in -lfl... no checking for yywrap in -ll... no configure: error: flex is required to create the libIDL scanner how do i fix this? thanks btw im running mandrake 9.1 |
You better don't try to install GNOME form source. Try to get some build packages for mandrake 9.1.
Another possiblity is to use Garnome or other scripts. If you still like to build from source, use the GNome Installation Guide. Enjoy. |
Just had the same problem installing Gnome. Fortunately I had Flex on my SuSE 9.0 distro's disk. Simply installed the missing package, and continued on.
BTW, yes, I'm using Garnome to build the monster. For the most part, it finds and downloads automatically most of the dependencies needed. Bear in mind that installation and compilation can take several hours... mine is still running after 12+ hours on a PIII 1000mhz machine, 256mb and ccache enabled. YMMV. ;) |
