Lost Internet connection w/ SuSE 9.2

After months of fooling around with SuSE 9.1 Pro I was finally able to connect to the internet through both an ethernet and wireless connection -- D-Link DWL G650 to the DI-624 wireless router. (Not bad for a newbie if I say so myself!)

SuSE's support for newbies or auto configuration for laptops in this area is sorely lacking. If they want Linux to catch on somebody better fix auto configuration of wireless connections -- make it as good as XP.

I upgraded to 9.2 Pro because of all the wonderful new features including more support for home networks and mobile users.

I was able to connect to the internet through the ethernet card but I couldn't get the wireless to connect (works fine with XP). After several tries at configuring the wireless I lost all ability to connect -- even the ethernet.

Any suggestions? I'm about to do a complete re-install as repair did not fix it. And, when running the repair function several "necessary" programs had to be added. I guess they were missed in the original install.

I installed one of the wireless monitors that indicates I have a signal. The PCMCIA card lights up but I can't connect.

Why don't you post what you have tried since installing 9.2 . I can't help much with the wireless, but may be able to figure out why your ethernet went out.

Anyway, if any real pros come through here, they'll probably want to know the contents of varying config files. Why don't you start by telling me what YaST has to say about your networking setup?
