loopback ip address to be configured on SUSE version 10

Hi Experts, I have configured loopback IP address on my server as (10.10.10.10). My LAN card physical IP address is 10.10.10.20. I dont want my loopback IP address to broadcast the IP & arp. How can i achieve it? Right now i see the problem that both 10.10.10.10 & 10.10.10.20 ip address is broadcasted by same MAC & I have 10.10.10.10 is already with some other host too.

A quick check of man ifconfig reveals that the -arp command disables the arp protocol, try the following

ifconfig -arp lo

also there is a -broadcast option as well which may be helpful here although I am not 100% sure if I understand what this does.

ifconfig -broadcast lo

Give them a try and report back, hopefully they will point you in the right direction

hi, I tried command "ifconfig lo -arp" & applyed to config file than also still the arp is broadcasted. So i just try to restart the server once.

After restarting also i still have a problem.
