Looking for some testing scenarios
Hello all,
I am getting ready to sign up for part one of my Linux+ exam. I have installed multiple distros, both virtually and on my old laptop. There is a gigantic stack of books sitting in my room but I find that I learn better by actually getting into the system and testing out scenarios. My question is if anyone here knows of some scenarios that I could test out, like configuring lamp or something like that. I guess I am looking for the kinds of things that a sys admin or network admin would do. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! |
So ... how did configuring a lamp-stack go?
|
I think it went well. I installed ubuntu server on vmware then installed the lamp stack in accordance with then guide I was following. I tested the install by going to the site http://localhost/ and I got the "It works!" message but that is as far as I got with it.

Ok ... so, why don't you make it more interesting and throw, say, Drupal into the mix?
Preferably Drupal7 with a PostgreSQL back-end ;} |
Thanks for the tip, looks like i got a bit of tinkering to do!
More to come, I'll give an update soon |
I got an idea. There is a distro called "LFS" (Linux from Scratch) and it teaches you from the ground up to build your very own distro. All it is is just a .pdf document but you can download it from www.distrowatch.com and I imagine if you want to learn most if not all that there is about Linux that would help.

Good ideas so far, keep 'em coming! |
A bit left field, but see the Chapter titles here http://www.linuxtopia.org/online_boo...ion/index.html
Can you custom tweak (manually) each service covered and make it work? Strictly using cli, no GUI tools ... |
