Looking for Network Scanner

I am a network manager for a k12 school district. I am looking for a program such as the Fluke Network Inspector to run on my ubuntu machine. What I am hoping for is a program that will run continuously in the background and compile statistic for my network. I would like to see all the workstation's IP Addresses, MAC addresses and Names. It would also be helpfull to see any open ports on each machine.

If you know of such a program please let me know.

Thanks, Joe

Not sure what Network Inspector does... can't find much out about it, but you can check out something like NTop or watch traffic on a local port or recieve data from a netflow / ipflow device. open ports is a seperate thing really, that'd be nessus or something.
