Looking for a server OS (ubuntu?)
 

Hello all,

I am new to the whole server operations. I want to set-up a home server. I am looking for the right operating system to do what i need to do with an easy to use GUI. Basically all I want to be able to do is file sharing, authentication to the network(domain controller), remote access, backups, and push out installs to workstations for software upgrades and OS reinstalls. I want the user profiles stored on the server so that no matter which computer i log into, my desktop and favorites are always there. If anyone knows of a good os for what I have described please let me know with maybe some set-up information.

Any distro would do (at least most of them). My personal choice would be centos or debian but Ubuntu will do the job fine as well. It's probably only a matter of personal preference.
