Logrotate fills up my filesystem

Hi,
I stumbled upon an odd situation.

I have 2 filesystems , mounted on "/var "and "/var/log" . While running daily a "logrotate" crontab on the "/var/log" filesystem , it seems that somehow it manages to fill up my "/var" filesystem instead, and then flushes it after completion.
While it is full , it gets other functionalities to stop working. Nothing gets logged (or maybe i don`t know where to look ).
Can a filesystem cache be written on another (parent) filesystem ? If yes, how can i disable it?

thanks,
Florin

you can specify locations in the logrotate.conf, (or at least that should be the starting point)
