Logitech Quickcam 3000 Help

Hello

I have a Logitech Quickcam 3000 installed on my dual boot system. The camera is shown correctly when I do a look at Hardware in Yast Control Centre. My question is how do I start it up? I can't seem to find it anywhere. Any help in this regard would be greatly appreciated.

run gnome meeting and turn on the camera through that.

there are few applications on linux for using web cams, gnome meeting is the default with most distros.
it will connect to h233 compliant servers [ msnm, yahoo, icq all use this protocol ] so you can connect to whichever im service you want to have the video chat in.

I haven't found any tools for publishing webcam images to a site with linux, but then I've never looked for one.

Camstream and XawTV are two good programs for playing around with your webcam. At least according to their website, XawTV has a tool called webcam for publishing to server.

I have installed Gnomemeeting, Motv, Kdetv, and still get the same results. The light on my camera comes on, and in Gnomeeting, the sound recording works in the test hardward setup. In all other programs mentioned, there is no video, and appears to be no audio as well. What can I do to fix this. Any ideas out there at all? Please help me I don't have much hair left to pull out.

This is sounding a lot like you're using the kernel pwc module and that doesn't support a lot of the webcams out there. I know mine is listed as supported by the kernel pwc module, but it simply doesn't work. Try using the driver from here and see if that doesn't solve the problem. If you are using a really recent kernel (like 2.6.16) you may need to use the development version of the drivers.
