Hi there,
I am inputting either the incorrect username or password in the login page (the computer running Debian is not specific about what is wrong)is there a way of bypassing this screen?

Thanks

Do you mean the root password or the user password?
First verify if the keyboard layout is correct.

Hello,

1) You can change terminal and try if your login is correct there (CTRL-ALT-F2 F3 or other).
2) You can type your password in the username box to check if your keyboard is correct.
3) If all else fails and your not the root / administrator, contact the administrator to reset your password.

Kind regards,

Eric

hi Tony

a tip for you...

lets pretend your login name is Johnsmith6 and pw is AmnqAIwtynl....(ask me no questions and I will tell you no lies)

put your password into the login name....to check if your locale and keyboard layout is giving you the correct characters.

I will always get caught typing Capitals when my blinking kb for some reason ...can not accept caps and I have do it it really slowly.

good luck
