login problem


hi
i installed redhat v9 on my system. this is the first time im installing linux. i choose the 'server' option n then after selecting the 'minimal' option linux was installed. the sys reboots n asks for a login id n passwd. during installation i was prompted for a root passwd. im stuck with the login/passwd prompt. wat do i do?

give root as your loginname (root = superuser, administrator..) and the password you was prompted during the setup as your password...btw when you type the password, you will not see anything (no asterisks, *, like in windows...it's blank empty black, but the letters are written. this is for your security)...so:

login: root
password:

that's what you see. password seems to be empty but is not actually..just type the passwd you gave during the setup and press enter and you should be in

login as 'root, enter root's password.
Then what will you do...?
You realize you probably don't have a GUI? No problem when running a server, I just thought you might not be very comfortable with only a text-prompt.
