Login Lockout

Installed Red Hat 9.2, selected all of the defaults and I experience lockup after the following three lines:

ide0 at 0x1f0-0x1f7,0x3f6 on irq 14
ide1 at 0x170-0x177,0x376 on irq 15
_ "Note: this is the cursor location."

The quote regarding cursor location is mine. I can't "read" or "learn" if I can't get started. If someone recognizes the above problem will he/she contact me with answers not opinions. I am in trouble with this installation and guessing tends to further complicate the issue.

Thank you

What else have you previously installed on this computer? Is the computer brand new?
