I dont know how come you dont get the login prompt again. press the Ctrl+Alt+f2 key combination.
Login as root

And you can even undo the last command you issued
Code:
# apt-get remove nvidia-glx nvidia-kernel-dkms nvidia-xconfig nvidia-settings
Once the command is done running type
Code:
# reboot
hopefully you dont have to re install

Sorry to hear about the results. I have "learned" the same way more than once.

The Debian Wiki site I linked to above is a very useful site and quite informative. Might be worth a read before you install the nVidia drivers again.
