login fails for other users
 

i logged in as root, created 6 new users and then from my usual account, i tried loggin in as each of the other users. each login fails, what gives ? i posted this here because it seems im missing something trivial. i need to be able to send mail to these other users from a web application via sendmail, then check their email for testing.

help ?

i think instead of the bash shell, i should use ssh ?

Any error output you can provide would be most helpful to determine why the logs failed. Maybe even a log from /var/log
