Logging Program

Hi,

I have FC4 and i am looking for something that will log everything that happens. It has multi Users, and i would like all processors and actions taken on all users.

Is there anything out there?

You want everything logged? As in all keystrokes, output, etc? You better have a lot of disk space...

You should already be logging some system activities by default. Progs like tripwire can notify you of file changes. You can always check each users .history file, provided you are root. A simple cron job could fire off a script to find them all and tar them up with a timestamp for the name and you can review them whenever you feel like it. Another option is to setup a logging server. You can configure your machine to log events to it so there are no local log files. The verbosity of capturing EVERYTHING will probably catch up to you.

it's just to find when servers crash, and what it was doing at the point of the crash. Thats the main reason.

Still looking for something? Try a remote logging server
