Unhappy Logging on with Kinternet

Hi, I am new to all this linux stuff. Can you please help me? I am trying to configure my internet access using kinternet in suse linux 7.3. However, it's not going too well. Can anybody provide me with a step by step process. I've tried doing it the way the documentation says, but I get an input/output error.

Thanks!!

if it's dialup, about the easiest way is to start yast1, select system administration ,network configuration
,configure a ppp network . enter the phone number, user name and password, check the auto dns box, leave it at pap/chap authentication. exit back to the main screen and select autodetect modem, once thats done, exit to the main screen again and select run wvdial, if all is well, you'll get a connected message. hit control +c to disconnect. exit out of yast, and select ok if it asks if you want to save you configuration. to connect click the plug icon near the clock.
