logging into Mandeake 10 using cygwin

I'm stuck trying to log in to a Mandrake 10 box with cygwin.

The pc runs XP pro using cygwin as the xwindows software to log into the linux box, or at least thats what I want but I can't seem to log into the linux box.

They both can ping each other, neither runs a firewall (the router does that) but when I log in from the xp box I get 'Connection refused'

anyone got some ideas?

Thanks

Is the MDK10 your box?
I'm not sure about this, but try putting your localhost information (ip etc) in /etc/hosts.allow. That *should* do the trick.

already done that, also put an entry into .rhosts but so far no change.

I'm actually thinking of installing Redhat 9 on to the linux box, I'm more familiar with that but I still think I'll have that problem on it.

But thanks for the suggestion

Try running 'xhost'. You probably run 'xhost +[computer you want to connect]'. You make this permanent by making a /etc/X0.hosts file.
