Locked out of Admin account Ubuntu 14.04
 

I am currently locked out of my Admin account on Ubuntu 14.04 after attempting to change the password.

I was able to successfully change the password after the lockout.
but I am still not able to log in. I try to click on the box to type my password, and it wont let me type it just loops me back to the user login page.

I have another user account that I am able to access also with no problems..why would it not let me enter the password on the Admin account?

Also I found out that the root partition on my Hard Drive has only 1GB
space left. I ran bleachbit to clean up any extra
files but it was not enough.. HD still full.

I just installed ubuntu and I'm not sure how exactly the 60gb partition I installed it on is full??? I'm completely lost
here.

I tried to access the Admin's folders/files through my other user account but I was denied access. It seems whatever is taking up all this space is inside my Admin account.

I ran disk usage analyzer and it shows me only using 4GB on my Ubuntu system.

Odd behaviors like that tend to mean issues with the device or filesystem IMO. Also check the state of the CAPSLOCK key. As that can make your password NOT be what you think it is. If you're running from flash based media, those tend to fail to read-only mode. Or maybe / was mounted read-only so your "changes" never actually wrote to disk. Booting another live distro is one option. So you can fsck that partition, and maybe chroot to it to do whatever admin steps are needed. You'll be root when you're in the chroot initially, even if the chroot is to ubuntu, so be careful.

I'd just reload it and be sure you pay attention to your disk structure. If it happens again then you need to figure out why.

You may with to run a live cd to double check what you think you see.

Might boot to single user mode and reset password again.

Did you encrypt this drive?

I did not encrypt ubuntu. It is on a laptop with windows 8.1 dual boot
