lock the screen problem with "root"

I am using Redhat Linux 9.

I logged in as root. Now I want to lock the screen. When I select "lock screen" nothing happens.

But if I log in as another user then it allows me to lock the screen. Why is this behavior.

Because it's trying to tell you that being logged in
as root is a bad idea. Just don't do it.
