Location of mozilla plugin folder?

Hi there, having read a few threads regarding loss of sound when viewing flash, I am trying to changed the permissions of the plugins folder of my mozilla firefox. I've noticed that sound works fine when i launch firefox as root. Unfortunately having looked at the locations specified in the threads, I can find the plugin folder. I have a gentoo install, i was wondering if someone would be kind enough to point me in the right direction, i've tried ~./mozilla , /opt/mozilla , /usr/lib/mozilla (theres also a mozilla-firefox) for some reason.

Any help would be greately appreciated.

Thanks

I'm not familiar with Gentoo, but you may want to try this command:

find / -name plugins

This should produce a list for you to help locate it.

The system wide location is /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins or /usr/lib/firefox/plugins

On Gentoo, I have noticed that some browser plugins are placed in /usr/lib/nsbrowser/plugins.

Thanks reddaz, i tried the the find command and basically chmod 777ed (this probably isnt very secure but i was getting frustrated) the ones i thought were relevant including the nsbrowser folder. But then realised that the sound problem actually goes away when i just type "aoss firefox" when i open up firefox.

Hopefully the plugin problem is sorted too. But I still have the nagging problem of not being able to load up a downloaded program by clicking "open" in the downloaded window of mozilla. Did anyone else have this problem?
