locate (result page by page)


Iam trying to find my php executable on debian...anyhow Iam using:

locate php


The output Iam getting is much more than the console can display so I need a method like grep to get the output page by page

if you dont' have the pager less installed do :

apt-get install less

Maybe you would pipe it to less and use the Page Down key.....
locate php | less

Try locate php | less
Or give the locate sommand in an Xterminal (eg konsole) - so you can use the scroll bar.
Or as it is an executable, it is likely to have bin in its path, so maybe try locate php | grep bin
