From http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/l...-glossary.html

Quote:
FQDN

An abbreviation for Fully Qualified Domain Name. An FQDN is the human-readable name that includes a computer's hostname and associated domain name. For example, given a hostname of "foo," and a domain name of "bar.com," the FQDN would be "foo.bar.com."
so http://filefarm.selfip.com is a no, filefarm.selfip.com is a yes

The http:// part is just identifying the source (same as you can have ftp, file, etc)

I got redirected to the ftp site, but don't have access

Right BillyMayDay, like I said pride.selfip.com redirects to my server.

What would you suggest for setting up an email server? I tried following a tutorial but literally half the packages they said to install couldn't be found (and yes I checked for updated versions like php5 in place of php4).

I use postfix with dovecot as the imap server. Pretty easy to set up, secure, good to play with, easy to add stuff like spam and virus checking
