Did it not then give you a password prompt after you typed your username and pressed enter? If so, then whilst typing your password in, it won't appear or show up stars as with Windows, simply type your password in and then hit enter.

When you say nothing happened, surely something must have happened? Did you get any error messages, e.g. "Login incorrect"? You could also try logging in as root with the password you set during installation.

localhost login:

I shoulb be more explicit in my question, I got this when I tried to login

Mandrekelinux release 10.1 (Official) for i586
Kernel 2.6.8.1-12mdk on an i686 / tty1
localhost login:

and then I typed mi user name that I created during the Installation after that I got this:
Password:I tried to typed my password where the linking point is but I could not do it , i have to hit enter and then I typed my password but I got this Login incorrect.

Are you sure your username was correct? You said that you could not type in your password, do you mean that when you typed it nothing appeared? That's normal and that's what fouldsy meant in his/her post. Maybe you typed your password incorrectly? Did you try also logging in as root?

When you see that screen, you need to enter your username and password. Were you expecting a graphical login screen?

It is quite normal not to be able to see what you type at the password field. Just type the user password carefully (note that passwords are case sensitive) and press enter. If you get "login incorrect" then you have not entered valid information.

At the login prompt: type in your username and hit enter.
When it asks for a password, type it in - you won't see it, but it'll be there all the same - and hit enter. Make sure the caps lock key is off ;)

You then get a "login successful" message, at which point you might want to type "startx".

You can use the Control Centre to automatically log you in to X.
