localhost.localmachine in RH9


in slack i could choose my localhost and domain during setup,
how do i change it in redhat 9?

hi there!

If wanna change it through GUI, you should be able to do

KMENU | SYSTEM SETTINGS | NETWORK

if you're logged in as user it will of course ask you for your root password and you should be able to change all network information (regarding localhost.localdomain) there!

Or you could edit /etc/hosts. You could also run the 'neat' command to bring up the gui that retiredsoldier is speaking of.

You can edit the hostname line in /etc/sysconfig/network

In RedHat, in order to set the hostname, you have to edit /etc/sysconfig/network
