LOADING UBUNTU 10.10 on presario v6000
 
I have chosen ubuntu to load on my laptop. it is a presario v6000 with intel proceesor. I installed a new hard drive a western digital 80gb. how do i format the drive or do i need to load a version of doss . a shove in the right diretion would be appreciated.Ihave ubuntu downloade and installed on a thumb drive . and am redy to get started but i was not sure what to do next in the past when i load windows it formatts the drive and builds partitions and the instuctions on the web all talk about installing next to a windows operating system. i really do not want to load windows if i do not need to . thanks

Ubuntu has an installer it'll partition drive for you. If you have another os make room by resizing also select side by side when asked.
