loading linux directly on to hard drive
 
silly question can I download a linux distro direct from the net to my hardrive.
at the moment I am using basic slax on live cd.my hardrive is completely
empty having taken out w*xp.
thanks for any replies.

yes ... it is called a "net install".
Of course, you can always install slax

Correct, but you'd still have to do a little download first (netinstall iso) to launch the netinstall.
