livecd for programming
Hey all,
I've been searching the livecd list but most livecd sites don't have good answer on what I search. I want a livecd with at least python, php and mysql and the modules needed to use them together. I'd like it to be debian-based though slackware is ok too. I found slax looks like it could support my wishes pretty well with the modules you can put in yourself. Am I right? The thing that worries me is that looking through the modules list I get the feeling it doesn't have many 'standard' programs in it. I also can't find a list of software that is in the default cd and that it doesn't look like it has another window manager than kde in it. For knoppix I think it's too large and from the documentation I think it's not easy to change things via windows before burning the cd. Also is there maybe another option I could use to get the following (making the bootcd myself or another livecd I have missed?): -uptodate x with lightweight wm (kde or gnome may be there too as long as I can choose) -webbrowsing -lightweight office -python, mysql, apache and php -multimediaplayer (mplayer preferably for video) thanks for your help |
Read up on remastering Knoppix. You can create your own version that will be exactly what you need it to be.

Thanks for putting me somewhat in the right direction but I can't use linux to make the disk.

Ok, then maybe this will help some. Assuming you have a usb flash key (and who doesn't these days) it's a quick and easy way to customize Knoppix to your liking and needs.

Thanks! that's pretty cool, I wanted to run from a usb-disk but my pc doesn't support that so it looks like this is the next best thing :)
