live update sticking, acer aspire one
live update lists 4 to be done but it sticks at the same point every time. have also found that i cant get into add/remove programs or system updater even tho root password is def right, and i cant retrieve update history because of 'internal error'
would be very grateful for any ideas,, love my netbook but this problem is driving me crazy lol |
Is the network (internet) working properly ?
|
Which operating system? The original Linpus Lite or something else?
|
hi,, the internet connection is fine and its a linux lite.. its been going on for a couple of months,, have tried leaving the live update running for hours to see if it would eventually completet but 4 hours later it still hadnt moved. have also tried installing patches from the aspire one web page ie for bluetooth and other stuff and with these they got right to the end and suddenly just stopped
|
No idea, I've recently replaced Linpus Lite by Ubuntu Netbook Remix which works for me.
Have you tried to search for the patch number on which it is stuck? Maybe no space on the SSD because of programs that you've installed? Linpus Lite is based on an old Fedora 8 that is no longer supported; that's what made me a bit worried but I kept using it till I did not see an update coming along for the latest kernel vulnerability. That was the time for me to look for something else and switch. |
thanks for that, been looking at the ubuntu and im thinking now might be the time to switch.. would you recommend it?
|
Yep.
You might run into an issue that something does not 100% work, but it's up to you to decide if that is important or not. For me they were not as I mainly use it for surfing the web while sitting in the garden. List of issues |
had a look at the issues,, dont seem to troubling,, gonna give it a go! thanks for your help
