live DVD problem
I just put together a simple little desktop with all intentions of using linux on it. I was wanting to try linux mint 12 as a permanent install. The only thing I can get to install is one of the many custom flavors of ubuntu 10.10. my system consists of a Biostar n68s3, an AMD Athlon x3, 4 gb of ddr 3 ram, and seagate 500gb drive. I use the on board audio and video. When I try to boot a live DVD either 32 or 64 bit it locks up in the middle of the boot. It shows the linux mint 12 splash screen and that is it . Also on my ubuntu HD install it locks up with the new kernal but I reset it and the GRUB menu comes up. I select the older kernal...-22.. and it boots fine.
I am not sure if there may be a driver issue for the mobo or what because the cd it came with only had Micro$haft drivers on it none for linux. Any help is greatly appreciated.
