Live Disc Boot Up Problem

I burnt Ubuntu 10.04 onto a Disc and Restarted my Windows Machine, it booted into the Disc and showed a black screen with some text about copyright on, after that a screen comes on with bars flashing and it gets stuck there.

Any Help? Im not sure if it has anything to do with my Video Card?

Note: Sorry if it is in the wrong forum, i could not find any one that was relevant to my problem

First, try checking the md5sum of the Ubuntu CD that you burned to make sure the CD is good and not corrupted:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Ho...20on%20Windows
If you are able to boot the Ubuntu CD to the main menu, there should be an option there in the menu to "check disc for defects". You could also run that disc check to verify the integrity of the CD. If you can not even get to the live CD main menu, then try the "md5sum on Windows" in the above link. If the md5sum check on the CD fails, see this on burning a new Ubuntu CD:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BurningIsoHowto
Try using Iso Recorder or Infra Recorder from Windows if you need to burn a new CD; and be sure to burn the CD at the slowest possible speed.

This is possible, what video card do you have?

And welcome to the LQ forums!

My Video Card is a sis mirage 3 graphic

The Program kept on crashing but when i finally did get it to work it said the md5sum was diffrent, i have downloaded two copies of 10.04 and they both did not work. Im not sure what is going wrong.

Note: I ended up ordered a live cd to be sent to my house. I will send a Donation to Ubuntu.

Thanks for the help anyway

What program was that? Do you mean the md5sum on Windows check that I linked to earlier?

Did the md5sum fail on the iso image that you downloaded? Or did the md5sum check fail on the CD that you downloaded?
If the md5sum failed on the iso image that you downloaded, then try downloading the iso image from a different mirror:
http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/downloadmirrors#mirrors
Scroll down to find a long list of mirrors to download Ubuntu from. Or try one of the torrents.
http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/downloadmirrors#bt
Your Sis graphics may be a problem. I am not sure about this though. You could try downloading the Ubuntu alternate install CD. This is a text based install CD that should avoid any graphics related problems. You can find the alternate install CD on the mirrors list in the above link.

It is possible that the image you are downloading is corrupt, so download from a diferent mirror if possible. Then check the md5sum. Then burn the CD at the slowest possible speed using Iso Recorder or Infra Recorder. Also, use a CDR, not a CDRW.

It will take quite a while to get a CD from Ubuntu.com. The CDs are sent out by volunteers, so it may take many weeks before you get the CD.
You can purchase Ubuntu CDs very inexpensively here if you want; and you will get them a lot faster:

Note: I have no affiliation with OSdisc.com.

I ran the ISO under Sun Virtualbox and it ran fine, it must be the Cd and/or the cd burner, i used CDBurnerXP and some cheap Cds from a pound shop () i have used the cheap Cds before and they have worked fine and i have used CDBurnerXP before and it worked fine so i can not think of what it could be that is causing the problem?
