Live CD PCLinuxOS
 

hi whats up well ive got a problem here. with a live cd version of linux an for some reason cant register at the pc linux os forums.

i had a live version of mandriva an it didnt boot from the live cd so i got pclinuxos

ok i downloaded the live cd of pclinuxos and burned it using nero to a cd-r at the slowest speed.

put in the cd rom restrated the pc came up to the pclinuxos 2007 screen i choose live cd hit enter.

it starts an in the screen that comes up where it tells ya like if ya usb devices are loaded

well it gets to searching for the loop image: /dev/hdc

it sets here an the pc busy lite is on of course an it staysh ere an does nothing after that the pc busy light goes off an nothing thats all it does

iv reburend this to a new cd r couple of times an nothing same thing

This is the site you need for PCLOS support, temporarily. You *should* be able to register there.

Which version of PCLOS did you download? 2007 TRx? These are Test Releases, and are not considered "final". The current (TR3) version has some known errors with USB devices on certain setups. TR4 will hopefully fix that, and lead to the final 2007 release.

i knwothats the site im talking about ok cant register at there fourms no way to contact an admin they have no emials in there profiles

i cant see the image on the site it takes to register and i have TR3 yes

Well, it's not the site for "help" issues, but take a look at myPCLinuxOS.com. The folks who run that are largely the same ones as run the temporary site, as well as the official site (whenever it comes back up).

Maybe they can help you get registered on the temp site.

padma i even tried the 0.93 the one u use in your listing there an ti did the same thing. told me the same error i get

1. Put your PC "model number" into a search engine along with "PCLinuxOS" to see if others share your experience and possibly have already found a solution.

2. MD5sum check the CD.

3. If MD5sum is good, boot the CD on some other computer.

4. If the CD works in step 3 above, try disabling boot up options on first computer. Of particular interest "high color and resolution video".

5. If possible, try individual memory modules (of at least 256MB) independently.

My understanding is a "loop image" is an area of RAM that is masked as a hard drive. Like the old DOS RAMDrive.

Trying other live CD distros could narrow your problem down to a hardware issue. For those distros repeat step #1 above.
