Live CD not giving itself much disk space

I'm using the Knoppix live CD, but when it's booted up a lot of commands (such as creating a new file, copying, etc) give "Disk full" errors. I have no idea what's causing it, or whether I'm supposed to set some special bootup commands to make it give iself more disk space.

I realize that it's disk space is basically allocated memory, so that confuses the issue even more for me...

I have 1 GB of RAM, and would like to make sure that the live CD instance uses up to all of it if possible.

(Is there any way to see the actual usage of the running Linux instance based on the memory it's using divided up by memory usage vs its disk space - which is also basically memory)

Thanks.

Apparently it's got something to do with "ramdisk" settings...any word on how I'd change these to give it more disk space?
