Live cd's wont run (Crashes to Limited Shell)
Firstly I am running a Linux Distro atm, Fedora 8 for some reason did run.
I am trying to dual or tri boot my system with Ubuntu or PcLinuxOS, but no live cd's appear to work, they all crash into a limited shell. My computer spec is as follows: 2.33ghz Dual core Intel processor. 2gb RAM 300gb HD 512mb Video card Asus P5K SE: DD2 SATAII As you can see, it's not exactly an old machine, I've tried using an old serial port keyboard and a usb mouse instead of my usual wireless ones and it won't run, the computer was assembled by "Computer Specialist" who tell me it was done properly and "We don't support Linux Distro's, and you wouldn't need to use a live cd if you were using Windows, so we shan't help you". Why won't the live cd run, and how do I fix this? |
Can you post any errors you're getting? Just saying they crash to a limited shell won't help us track down the problem...
Also, from the limited shell, check the output of dmesg and the log files in /var/log. |
It said it can't mount th live cd.
After running Dmesg, all I could see of interest was: PCI cache line size of 32 not supported by device 0000.00.la.7 PCI cache line size of 32 not supported by device 0000.00.ld.7 to 64 ACPI: PCI interupt 0000:00:1d.7[A] (arrow pointing right, not what I'm typing) GSI 23 (level, low) (another arrow pointing right) IRQ20 If I posted the wrong data, please tell me what I should look for. |
Try booting the live CD with linux apci=off noapic.

Attempted, crashed again to limited shell with same problems.
