list all contains and subdirectories' contains

Hi all, I am using the command
Code:
ls * > list
to output the contains of a directory in a file.
The problem is that ls * command lists the contains of only the first subdir , and doesn't display the contains of deeper subdirs. What's the syntax to have *everything* listed even if it is 20 subdirs deep ?

tnx , babis
