Linxuant Riptide Driver on RH9 Causes Oops?

Hello, All,

I'm trying to get a Riptide audio controller to work correctly in Red Hat 9, as it's the card that came with the PC I'm using to run Linux for the first time. Apparently several people have had some level of success with the card, and I'm wondering if anyone has experienced the sort of problems I'm having,

I got the drivers from the Linuxant site.

I installed the RPM as root and ran 'ripconfig'.

I rebooted.

I ran the volume control and jiggled the main volume slider, while playing some sounds in the sound preferences control panel. This actually brought some sound for the first time!

However, the soundcard seems to intermittently wig out and start playing all kinds of noise. It will spontaneously recover from this. It seems like whenever it happens, a message like this pops up in the 'dmesg' log:

Does anybody know what this means? It seems like something fairly low-level, but obviously I don't know what I'm talking about.

Also, moving the volume sliders all the way to the top (on main or secondary mixer controls) actually makes the sound disappear. The loudest it gets is when the slider is right below the top of the range.
