Linux virtual disks !


Hi all.

I accept this question is not directly related to linux but still if someone can guide me. In vmware workstation 6/7 (using windows xp as host), how can i map virtual disk of my linux VM ? when i try to map it, it maps but when i try to explore it, it gives me an error of formatting !!

Anyone pls ?

I am not sure if I understand your question correctly. But this is probably because windows does not support ext filesystems which are used by linux. You need to install special drivers in order for a windows machine to use an ext file system.

Below you will find a link to such a driver. It says ext2, and I am not sure if it support ext3.

Ok i tried in linux ubuntu. It worked fine but there was one issue, i couldnt mount LVM based virtual disk.

Anyone has any insight on this ? i know vmware wont mount compressed or encrypted vmdk, so does it take LVM as either of them ?
