Dear All,
My Linux server is abnormally restarted with power fluctuation after reboot it gives following error
"Mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/mapper/vg_nrcshinkiari_lv_root, missing codepage or helper program, or other error
In some cases useful info is found in syslog –try dmesg
Can’t mount root file system
Boot has failed, sleeping forever"
I tried to recover through rescue mode but in vain. plz help.
Looks like your root logical volume is corrupted. You need to boot using the installation disk to rescue mode and run the following commands. The first two find all of the physical and volume groups on your system.
Without knowing how the "fresh linux" was installed I would assume that the data has been overwritten and unrecoverable. You can try using photorec or testdisk.
Try to boot a live system from a ISO-Image (CD, DVD or USB-stick) and see if you can locate any of your old partitions (using e.g. gparted). If they are still there, try mounting them and look what data you can see. You could then copy the data to an external usb-disk (for example).
If the new linux was installed over your existing partition(s), your data is gone.
