Linux Suse and VMs

hi all,

well i don't know where to start from ..

i downloaded the connectix Virtual Machine and was wondering how this thing will work , i downloaded Linux Suse 7.3 , one cd from the web ...

well , everything went fine , the system image was about 55 MB, and it operated, but i was always feeling that the intallation CD is working and running while i give general comands to the system , such as browsing the web from the suse or so ,, everytime the CD was working , so i ejected it. and suddenly the screen went red and nothing was there.. and i clicked a bottun called reset system, nothing happened for a while so i closed the window and double clicked on the icon for the system on the connectix program. it asked me to insert the installation cd like there was nothing installe! it acted like it is the first time to run and there was no system to run!

now, is this problem from the Linux i downloaded , becuase i heared that suse has an evaluation copy on the web only for i386.
or the connectix program runs while the CD is in the CDrom,(strange for a system) or i did a mistake by choosing reset system.

what is going wrong?
do i have to reinstall the system every time i exit or what??

thanks in advance:)

it never installed the system. SuSE doesn't offer iso's, you have the evaluation cd. The actual distro is 3 cd's(personal) or 7 plus a dvd(pro). the free beer crowd will complain, but SuSE is not a bunch of volunteers , they have to pay rent, feed their family's, etc. you'll have to buy the boxed set or find a different distro.

yeah but i did download the iso version from the site.

you might be right. well i just wanted to try suse and see the difference.

thanks for the replay

Yeah, you dled the ISO of the LiveEval version. It was only 55 Mb. You will need to boot from the CD in order to run it. It will probably only work with the CD in the drive. If you want a full Linux OS to dl, head over to www.linuxiso.org.
