Cool Linux software 'plugins' requirements

Hi,

How come that when you try to put software on linux(im using mandriva 2009.0) you need alot of extra stuff installed which also needs extra stuff. E.g wine needs 'cabextract' and that needs other things.

is there a way to get round that?
Thx!

Dismissed!

Yes. Don't use wine . Seriously though, most of the software installs what it needs automatically. Open-ended apps like a browser or winde obviously need plugins because the software can't predict what you, General Lion Seal, are going to want on your browser or what sort of Windows apps you will want to run. This is the price of freedom: you get to choose. There are worse things in life.
Cheers,
jdk

Yes, only install software with the package manager,
or use the command # urpmi <package>, e.g. # urpmi wine
and everything is installed automatically.
